I can’t believe you can read 3 books at the same time!

My goal, when I retire from my current job, is to read fiction (uninterrupted) for at least an hour a day. A modest goal, to say the least, but my reading has been dominated by science (journal) articles for the past 40 years, to the point of exclusion of everything else (other than student papers, of course) - a sad state of affairs for someone who was once a literature major (long story).

And I will definitely only be reading one book at a time. :)

Four grams?!? Dang, kiddo...!!!

I've heard from other folks who have done these types of therapies that the question of success has to do with integration after the experience is over. Do you have follow up sessions where you can further process those "moments under the influence when I am able to see through the disease; not to the other side, but to a place where I’m able to hold it in the space of a rewarding, ongoing life," in a way that can be integrated into moments when you are *not* under the influence?

As always, your writing is insightful and thought-provoking.

I read to “hold the value in ongoing life” - emphasis ongoing - hence no disconnect, though I keep voracity at bay, temporarily.

I have a lot of trouble reading now because my eyes are tired from screens all day at work. So I listen to a lot more books than I ever did. Audio books are very important to me.

Thank you for reminding me of the joy of books! I have a stack, I’m also reading three, but I get pretty worn out at the end of the day and bypass.

Wish I could attend tonight!

Oh man! So much to unwrap in this one Jeff! I've come down with a pretty nasty flu this past week, and even though was feeling somewhat better yesterday, I "faked it" just a tad bit so I could sit in my reading chair and not feel guilty reading the book( Lavinia s new Volume of Women's Travel Writing). But then, I allowed myself to be distracted by my smart phone, my husband's needs etc.

I am glad I am not alone to find it more and more difficult and frustrating to take time to just seat and read. But I do, whenever I can steal myself for at least a short time. I compensate by listening to audio books in my car and whenever I am on my bike. Does that count?

I love hearing that you are taking mind trips. Jim and I have been discussing that for his Parkinson's as well. Need to find courage and the right guidance.

Be well
