I first met you at one of your one-man shows at The Marsh SF, in 2003?! Doesn't seem possible that so much time has gone by, but I'm happy to hear you're performing again. <3
Wow this Substack even has a live performance attached to it for those of us lucky enough to attend! I'm so excited to see the magician live onstage! <3
Jeff, I commend your courage and that of your friend to face your Parkinson's diagnosis and talk about it openly, even in a performance. As you know, my husband had Parkinson's. It shows up with different symptoms at different times, so I understand a part of what you are experiencing. Sending love, Donna Lawrence
What an endlessly creative life you've lived, Jeff -- taking every little (and huge) thing that comes your way and trying to turn it into...Story! (No, not TRYING TO, but ACTUALLY turning it into Story.)
Love this: "Is it a comedy? a tragedy? We determined it was a “feel good tragedy.” ... But my own reality is that there's no “feel good.” It's just tragic."
Thoughts to take to bed with me tonight, right now, in fact...
