I appreciate how you brought together so many disparate things - friendship and Parkinson's and what it means to love. It's honest, Jeff, and I appreciate how you let the walls come down here. Very beautiful.

We come on the ship they call The Mayflower

We come on the ship that sailed the moon

We come in the age's most uncertain hours

And sing an American tune

Oh, and it's alright, it's alright, it's alright

You can't be forever blessed

Still, tomorrow's going to be another working day

And I'm trying to get some rest

That's all I'm trying to get some rest

Paul Simon

Such a sweet post, Jeffji, and you certainly have a lot of friends and admirers to fill that cup! As far as those bullies who harassed you, though, may they all experience a gnarly allergic reaction to strawberries!!!

I love the updated Picasso, too. Marie-Thérèse Walter seems to be really enjoying your book and musings ;)

I just poured myself a gin and tonic while making peach and apple strudel in my van, camping on the edge of Lake Almanor. Somebody Somewhere is in the queue on my i-Pad for later tonight.

I have so many thoughts swimming around my brain right now.

Thank you, Jeff

Thanks again Jeff. A fun, informative and inspiring read. As for family, I find it is often easier to create a family of friends than friendships in family. When either are working to our hearts content, neither are better or worse than the other. I hope your cup runneth over this great Labor Day!

I can hardly believe it's been 30 years for TSOTW! So very much has happened both personally and in the world. So glad we heard you on NPR and got the book. So glad I've had the good fortune to meet you in person!

After all I've experienced in my relationship life, I would tend to agree that close, intimate, platonic relationships can be some of our most significant (and yes, romantic). My marriage turned out not to be what I thought and since then it has been too hard for me to find another partnership of that ilk. But the friends I've made!! Oh the friends who have been there for me, from whom I take inspiration, willing to share commune...it's been a blessing.

Appreciate the recommendations...thank you!! Take care of yourself.

Appreciating your post—and more importantly, you—from the airport in Toulouse. Seventy seemed ancient when I first heard that song! But here I am near the cusp, and you and so many other people I know are on the other side of it. It doesn’t seem ancient anymore.

Everyone should take Jeff's advice and watch "Somebody, Somewhere" -- it's just the Rx we all need right now. And congrats, Jeff, on the new book!!
